Highly recommend! Very pleasant and accommodating team. Have been treated by Minakshi (dentist), and Shirin (hygienist). Cannot fault them; very friendly, engaging, professional and polite. Excellent team from the reception staff, dental nurses/assistants/associates.

A root canal is a dental treatment where your dentist removes an infected nerve and dental pulp from within a tooth.

A root canal is performed under local anaesthetic. Some removal of the central part of the tooth may be required to access the nerve. When the nerve is removed, the root canals of the tooth are cleaned out and disinfected.

What Happens After My Root Canal

Depending on the health of the tooth, our dentist will advise if you need a filling or dental crown. This will be used to restore strength and function to the tooth. We will always endeavour to save your teeth rather than remove them because natural teeth are best. The loss of even one tooth can have a detrimental effect on your mouth and can lead to your other teeth drifting into the gap, which can cause problems with your bite.

The Procedure

There is an opening in the tooth

The infected tissue is removed and the canals are cleaned out

The canals ae filled with a permanent material

The opening is sealed with a filling a post may be inserted for added stability

The new crown will be cemented onto a rebuilt tooth

What Are The Signs For Needing Root Canal

Signs of pulp damage may include pain, prolonged sensitivity to heat or cold, discoloration of the tooth, swelling, tenderness of the overlying gums, or a bad taste in the mouth. On the other hand, there may be no symptoms at all. If pulp inflammation or infection is left untreated, it can eventually cause pain, swelling, and loss of the supporting bone.

If you are experiencing tooth pain, sensitivity, swelling or you notice darkening of a tooth, it may be due to an inflamed or infected nerve and you may require root canal treatment.

After treatment, the tooth may be sensitive or tender for a few days due to inflammation of the surrounding tissues. Taking over-the-counter painkillers can relieve this discomfort. However, if the pain persists and is severe, or a swelling occurs, you should contact us immediately.
